Christian Betzmann speaks up after breakup with Zoya Nasir

A day after Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir called off her engagement to German travel vlogger Christian Betzmann over his “insensitive remarks about Pakistan and the situation in Palestine”, he came up with his side of the story on Sunday.

In a series of comments he posted on his Instagram handle about the entire situation, he said it was a “lie”.

“First of all, this is not an apology. It’s funny how people twist things to get clout,” he said.

“Pakistan has welcomed me with open arms and I am forever grateful to that. I love my fans and I love everyone who has been supporting me through the channel over the past year to show the good image of the country, and the fun side.

“I had to adapt to this culture and you will have to admit to mine; Honest and constructive criticism. Infrastructure wise this country is a third world country and it also suffers immensely from pollution (garbage).

“These are facts, doesn’t mean I hate the country or its people. That’s a lie. I said purely because I care about Pakistan and really want to see a change one day. But [in] order to see the positive change, we have to accept the mistakes and find a way to fix them. By ignoring the problems, we will never fix anything.”

went on to clarify how he never criticised the idea of prayers, insisting that since his conversion to Islam, he has seen a positive side to the belief system.

Chris had spoken earlier this week about his silence over the atrocities taking place in Palestine, saying that “social media will never win against government and politics.” “Sharing something which is all over mainstream media won’t make any difference,” he said.

Chris criticised Pakistanis for not doing the same for their country. “Stop feeling guilty for others when you’re littering your own country, not helping your own people and community,” he said.

In a private chat with another Instagram user, the German vlogger remarked the user’s comment about social media being a normal citizen’s only power with a taunt: “You have no power,” and, “Go pray, that’s the only thing you can do.”

Against this backdrop, Zoya Nasir called off her engagement to Chris.

However, Chris rejected this claim of Zoya Nasir and said it was he who cut off his engagement to Zoya.

Facebook rating falls amid allegations of ‘censorship on Palestinian content’

CALIFORNIA – The rating of the social networking giant Facebook has dropped from 4.0 to 2.5 on Play Store after it was hammered by a large number of users for censoring the content related to the recent developments in Palestine and the massacre of unarmed civilians in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces.

Social media users accused Facebook of bias, as it ‘glorified’ Israeli aggression against the oppressed Palestinians by censoring posts and comments condemning the Israeli aggression and killings of unarmed Palestinians.

As of Saturday, the Facebook application has a rating of 2.5 on the Google Play Store and 2.4 on the Apple App Store. It has dropped from over 4. People rate these applications on the basis of their services.

Many of the users posted complaints on play stores about how Facebook wiped out their ‘right to express themselves’.

The rating of social applications is likely to drop even further over the coming days as many hashtags are currently trending, condemning these apps for censoring Palestinian posts and allowing provocative Israeli content.

Amid all the censorship, Facebook is alleged to have partnered with the Jewish state to censor Palestinians by creating a page titled ‘Jerusalem Prayer Team’.

Reports in the international media suggest the Facebook liked the page ‘Jerusalem Prayer Team’ on behalf of a large number of users without their consent.
